Civil Engineers - Sponsorship Opportunities

Training and development

As soon as you join us, you'll become a Graduate Member of the ICE or CIWEM. The training programmes have been developed in collaboration with these Institutions, which means everything's in place for you to gain the learning and experience required to achieve the relevant professional status.

We'll sit down with you early on and work out your Initial Professional Development plan (IPD). This will guide you through assignments coming up in the short to medium term; the projects you'll work on and the mentors you'll have. Some graduates will join us with more experience than others; so all IPDs will be different.

That way, we can tailor your programme so that in your Professional review, you'll have covered all the subjects you need to write your reports with skill, and to demonstrate that you've the necessary experience to become a Chartered Engineer.

There will be a range of people on hand to guide you through the programme from the start - your programme manager, your supervising and delegated engineers, your nominated manager, the training board, the programme coordinator and HR support. They'll offer advice and will always be available to discuss any issues you may have. It is hard work, and you'll sometimes have to study in the evenings and at weekends, but you'll get all the support you need.
