Details of the programme
The Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Engineering Graduate Programme is tailored to your individual needs and those of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management. You'll take on a mix of internal and external assignments that could take place anywhere in your particular region.
Each project will help you build skills in everything from asset management to project feasibility, planning to design, and project management to site supervision. Normally, you'll spend between three months to a year on each. So you'll have time to get to grips with the issues, gain the required experience, and make each project your own.
Wherever you are, you'll have a supervising engineer who'll oversee your work and a delegated engineer who'll help you on a day-to-day basis. They'll be around to answer any questions you have, pass on their knowledge and experience, and help you become the best Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Engineer you can possibly be.
It is likely to take you between three and four years to complete the programme (depending on levels of experience and qualifications), and you'll be assessed in four core areas: Technical, Commercial, Professional and Management Skills. Once you can demonstrate that you possess the full range of skills, attitudes and capabilities required you can move forward for your chartered professional review. If you pass that, you'll be a Flood and Coastal Risk Engineer with Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Once you've completed the training programme, you'll have the opportunity to apply for a wide range of suitable professionally qualified roles in the organisation.
